Our Philosophy
Pilates Body Products LLC was founded in 2006. It all began by
blending two of my passions, Wellness and Beauty. I am a Certified
Pilates instructor and have owned my own Pilates Studio for over 10
years and I have been a cosmetic ingredient label reader all my life.
I have studied and researched ingredients as a hobby since I was 12
years old, I would read ingredient labels, magazines, medical
journals and cosmetic dictionaries for fun. I suffered from moderate
acne into my early 30’s and sensitive skin. I became obsessed
with finding ingredients and products that wouldn’t break out my
skin and wouldn’t irritate my sensitive skin yet were effective.
In addition I have a chemical sensitivity to artificial fragrances. I suffer from artificial fragrance headaches. Many different chemicals are in artificial fragrances that aren’t listed on the fragrance label. Among them are the endocrine-disrupting chemicals called phthalates. The effects of these chemicals on your Endocrine System are very disturbing. Have you ever gotten a headache because someone sitting next to you is doused in perfume? Or felt sick upon entering a room with an artificial air-freshener or after smelling clothes washed with chemical detergent? Artificial fragrances are also among the top five known allergens and can cause asthma and can trigger asthma attacks. For those of us who suffer from allergies and chemical sensitivities avoidance of artificial fragrance is the only real solution.
After years of disappointment, wasted money and cabinets full of mediocre products, I became so frustrated that I decided to create my own product line. One that uses only the finest natural and organic ingredients and are beneficial to the skin but gentle enough for sensitive skin and for people with chemical and artificial fragrance sensitivities. I wanted to create products for myself and my studio that were all natural and safe but still effective and used only essential oils as fragrance so that they would not leave people with headaches. Most importantly the products had to use only non-comedogenic ingredients so they would not clog pores and aggravate acne prone skin. I wanted to use only beneficial ingredients with no cheap filler ingredients all while being chemical free.
Through all of my years of research of reading cosmetic labels from economy lines to expensive luxury lines to even so called natural, chemical free and organic lines, I found that the majority of Cosmetic Companies products are full of chemical, useless ingredients, parabens, petrochemicals, sulfates and comedogenic ingredients that not only make your skin break out but are also harmful when absorbed through your skin. Pilates Body Products never contain any synthetic ingredients, fragrances, parabens, sulphates, PEGs, TEA, DEA, Paba, propylene glycol, phthalates, GMO, petroleum, mineral oil or silicones. I call my products “Pure Organic Luxury”.
Pilates Body Products use only beneficial natural ingredients with no chemicals. We use only the finest organic ingredients whenever possible, when organic is not available we use ingredients that are wild crafted and chemical-free. We only use food grade or medical grade ingredients. Our plant based ingredients we use are extracted according to the specific composition and needs of each plant to preserve their healing properties and ensure maximum potency. All Pilates Body Products are hand crafted in small batches to ensure the highest quality, limit the environmental impact and are only tested on friends and family, never animals.
